Where is your name from?

Emine
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 04, 2009:
My name originates from Amina, from Arabic. It was the name of our prophet's mother. That's not why I was named Emine though. It's also a very traditional Turkish name, and on both my parents' side the grannies' second names were Emine.
I used to dislike my name when I was growing up- not surprising, thinking that at that age I probably liked very few things about myself :) Mostly because it was old-fashioned, not trendy enough and older ladies or village women were called Emine. Then, I started liking it a lot, mainly because it wasn't trendy :) It was a classic, never out-of-date.
I also like what it means; it means sure, confident. It gives me a solid, strong feeling about my personality and myself. I like to think of myself as someone others can put their trust into.
My Reiki master actually said that contrary to what people believe, it's the souls themselves that pick their names and communicate it to the mother-to-be, that each soul chooses a name suitable for their vibration. Sounds neat, doesn't it? :)
