Where is your name from?

Posted on Mar 4th, 2009 by Emine : Light Worker Emine
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 04, 2009:

My name originates from Amina, from Arabic. It was the name of our prophet's mother. That's not why I was named Emine though. It's also a very traditional Turkish name, and on both my parents' side the grannies' second names were Emine.

I used to dislike my name when I was growing up- not surprising, thinking that at that age I probably liked very few things about myself :) Mostly because it was old-fashioned, not trendy enough and older ladies or village women were called Emine. Then, I started liking it a lot, mainly because it wasn't trendy :) It was a classic, never out-of-date.

I also like what it means; it means sure, confident. It gives me a solid, strong feeling about my personality and myself. I like to think of myself as someone others can put their trust into.

My Reiki master actually said that contrary to what people believe, it's the souls themselves that pick their names and communicate it to the mother-to-be, that each soul chooses a name suitable for their vibration. Sounds neat, doesn't it? :)

Here's what my body wants to say to the world :)

* Thank you, thank you, thank you world!!!

* Thank you the Mighty Creator of All for creating a physical system so perfect, so intelligent, so self-sufficient as this one!

* And may all of us in the world always keep in mind that our bodies are transitory, temporary so let's nourish what's within...

I am wishing that in this new year we all get a better insight into this mystery that is ourselves and get a little bit closer to the Truth.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

What was the last thing you wondered about?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 21, 2008:

Today, I wondered about the reason why, despite all the yoga knowledge I have and the practice I do, I am still at a loss when I encounter unpredictability. Why I am still so clueless and useless...

How do we shift from "Me" to "We"?

Posted on Mar 27th, 2008 by Emine : Light Worker Emine
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 27, 2008:

This is a good one- I often think about it when I'm in class, teaching.

I find that when I'm annoyed with my students for not handing their homework assignments, or upset about their lack of interest, etc., I get into an intense "Me" mode, which immediately blocks the flow of energy between us. Then I remember that I'm not there for this purpose. I consciously remind "Me" that I'm there to do my best, to help them learn in the best way that they can- that their accomplishments are our accomplishments, as a team. I shift into the "We" mode, and ask myself: "What can I do so that this time we spend together here is really meaningful? How can I show that I care? How can I motivate them more?"

It's not about "Me" anymore. Then, the energy starts flowing again. I think when we seperate ourselves from the whole, we are very very lonely and pathetic.
